project
D – desk

The workplace decides a lot. In the office of Roketbank a lot of attention is centered around that - huge tables are designed, with a calculation of 1.5 meters per person. In each of these giants there is internet and electricity. If you want to - connect a laptop, charge the phone or put two monitors and work at the table for your own pleasure. This solution - connecting the workstation to the cables vital to the technology - solves many problems.

Now you need to add mobility to this story.

Project Description:

Oak shield from lamellas 30 x 30 has a cut-out for the built-in electric socket (it is possible to replace it with other ports) in the upper left corner.

The dimensions of the table top are slightly less than the standard 1200 mm, than on larger tables - 1500 mm.

The principle of the desk is as follows:
- in front of the user's feet is a pair of wheels
- opposite to the wheels symmetrically on both sides of the user are "feet"
- the user lifting the edge of the desk on the "legs" side can easily move the desk, transferring the weight of the desk to the wheels.

Metal construction was made of a profile of 30 x 60 mm. This profile was chosen intentionally, in order to preserve the aesthetic appearance of the ends: the side of the 30 mm oak lamella and the profile side of 30 mm are equal, which presses the aesthetics that we called the "sandwich"

But with vertical loads on the countertop, the profile's horizontal line is subject to pressure and gives a slight deflection. Therefore, an additional vertical line to the left of the central axis, reduced the risk of physical deformation of the metal profile.

While working on this design, a solution was proposed - to join the desks face-to-face, clamping the console between them.
